Help us kick off the wedding by meeting us at the Funkatorium. Experience Asheville’s craft brewery scene while socializing with the wedding guests. Drinks and food will be provided.

Haldi

HALDI, turmeric in English, is an intimate occasion where turmeric cream is applied to the bride and groom's bodies with a flower. The ritual symbolizes purification, prosperity, happiness, and auspiciousness. The turmeric acts as a cleanser of the body and soul, warding off evil spirits.  Mehndi, the art of intricate henna designs, will  be offered at this event. Indian + American breakfast foods and drinks will be served.

Attire: Formal Indian Attire encouraged. Please dress in yellows and oranges.

Baraat

BARAAT: groom's procession in English. In this traditional wedding procession, the groom is escorted to the site of the wedding. This event signifies the groom’s journey to unite with his bride and the bride’s family. Historically, the groom would travel from his residence to the bride’s. Expect a party: vibrant music and dancing as the group travels up the road to the wedding destination (approx. 100 Yards)

Location: Seely Pavilion (Outdoors)

Attire: Formal Indian Attire encouraged

Shaadi

SHAADI: wedding in English. The Indian wedding ceremony sacred rituals will be performed under a Mandap, a four-pillared structure symbolizing the four pillars of life. Kanyadaan (giving away the bride), Mangal Phera (circling the fire), Saptapadi (seven steps/vows), and Sindoor (signifies union) are rituals completed during this event.

Location: Seely Pavilion (Outdoors)

Attire: Formal Indian Attire encouraged

SANGEET: “music” in English. Although formally a pre-wedding celebration, the sangeet will be our reception after the Indian wedding. Cocktail hour will start after the Shaadi allowing time for the bride and groom to change. Next, Indian cuisine will be served for dinner. The anticipated Bollywood-themed, choreographed dances will commence after dinner.

Christian Wedding Ceremony

Celebrate the pronouncement of marriage including the processional, readings, ring exchange, and unity ceremony. Vows will be completed privately before the ceremony. The event starts the sacred, lifelong covenant between the bride and groom, reflecting mutual love, commitment, and selflessness.
